    Best Products for Hair Loss

    May 27th, 2010

Heredity, hormones, stress, diet, illness, poor hair care – all are factors in hair loss. Stress, diet and illness are more temporary conditions and usually the hair loss is reversed when the anxiety-producing conditions dissipate, when the diet is improved, when hair care improves and when an illness is cured or gotten under control.

Heredity and hormones are different matters, however. Heredity is an irreversible condition. You are a product of your parents, and hair loss is often inherited. Hormones are tricky, hidden things, however, and they have different effects on an individual basis. In a male, testosterone abides abundantly.

There are also enzymes working on testosterone which product a substance called DHT. DHT is now known to circulate in the blood and cause other conditions, one of which is the shrinking of hair follicles. When hair follicles shrink enough, they are unable to produce and push a new hair through. As old hair dies, it is then not replaced. In women, hormonal imbalances can also cause hair loss.

Pregnancy, childbirth and menopause all cause significant hormonal change and imbalances with both physical and mental effects. These changes can also cause hair loss, both temporary and permanent.

Hair loss and re-growth products have been around for centuries. In ancient times, a variety of herbal and oil-based remedies were concocted and used by Egyptians, Aztecs, Mayans, and American Indians, all with some degree of effectiveness for some people.

Modern medical research has focused on ways to re-open and stimulate “dead” hair follicles, so that hair growth can re-occur naturally, as well as keep the healthy follicles healthy. Thus, a number of products have become available, both by prescription and over-the-counter. They are advertised on radio and television and all over the Internet. One need only do a “google” search on hair loss, and there are literally thousands of sites and products for investigation.

One ingredient in many hair loss products is minoxidil. Research studies have shown that in about 80% of the participants, products containing this ingredient are effective in slowing hair loss and, in some, causing regrowth to occur. Probably the most well known is Rogaine, available at any drug store, in varieties for both men and women.

Most scientifically-produced products do have separate products for males and females, because, of course, hormones in each are different and of different levels.

An additional product containing minoxidil is Provillus, and, again, studies have shown it to be effective. The difference between Provillus and other similar products is that the makes have added Azelaic Acid, an additional ingredient which appears to enhance the follicle repair in both men and women.

Provillus has been the subject of many studies, just as the other products, and level of effectiveness may be higher. Provillus treatment is available for both men and women, and the treatment is a combination of a topical liquid applied to the balding areas, as well as a pill or capsule to be taken in conjunction with the liquid.

The critical key to effectiveness, according to its makers, is the addition of the azelaic acid, however, the correct amount of this acid is most important piece of this treatment. As with most hair loss products, the makers recommend patience. It may take from 3-6 months for improvement to occur, however, there is a money-back guarantee up to 180 days if one is not satisfied that it is working for him/her.

Medical research is far from finished in its exploration of products which will stop hair loss and promote regrowth of “permanent” loss. As this research continues, existing producers will undoubtedly alter their products accordingly. Fortunately, a lot of money is being poured into the research, so hair loss sufferers, take heart!

    Growing and Harvesting Aloe Vera

    May 5th, 2010

Did you know there are hundreds of Aloe Vera uses? If you are interested in natural therapies from herbs and plants then you will probably at one stage think about growing your own aloe vera plant. Aloe vera is well known for its healing properties, and people often keep a pot plant on their kitchen windowsill to use on minor burns and cuts and other skin problems.

There are many species of aloe, but the type that provides the most health benefits of Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller, known as the ”true aloe”. This plant is easy to care for indoors near a window or in the garden as long as they don’t get too much direct sun. Aloes are very forgiving if you forget to water them for a few weeks. You can tell when your plant is getting a bit thirsty as its leaves change from a natural vivid green to a dull pale orange/red color.

Aloe leaves can grow up to 1 foot long and up to 2 inches thick, although this is when they are planted in the ground. Potted plants tend to grow much smaller. Aloe vera plants grow upright and over the years they spread out by sending out offshoots. In spring and summer aloe produces bright orange flowers on long narrow stalks.

If you plant Aloe vera outside, make sure it is protected from frost and severe cold. Remember this wonderful plant originated from Africa, so it doesn’t like the cold. Aloes like lots of indirect, bright sunlight in order to thrive.

Aloe vera plants are easy to propagate. If you buy it in a small pot, you can replant it in a much larger pot immediately, because the aloe will soon grow and spread to fill the larger pot. It will create clumps of offshoots, which you can remove from the main plant and pot separately. These new baby aloe vera plants make great gifts for your friends and family!

To harvest aloe gel, simply cut a whole leaf or a small piece, depending on what you want it for. You will be able to see how the aloe plant will seal it’s own wound and repel any bacteria invasion. This is part of aloe vera’s antibacterial properties that we use for our own wounds.

Run a sharp knife down one fat side of the leaf, not too deeply. Then trim each edge of the leaf, the sides that are serrated. Finally, flip the leaf over and press down on the gel as you slide the knife beneath the gel and between the other leaf. This is called leaf filleting. In a large leaf you will be left with a large piece of gel which is practically transparent. This gel is the source of the plants wonderful healing properties. You can apply it to small injuries, skin disorders, or even put some on a tooth brush to banish gum disease, if used on a twice daily basis.

There are many commercicial Aloe Vera products, but the best ones are the those you can make at home from a recipe. Visit Aloe Vera Home Remedies.

Fresh aloe vera gel is best as studies show freshly picked aloe starts to deteriorate within an hour of harvesting. You can get the Aloe Vera juice benefits from the gel.

How Can I Save On Child Custody Legal Fees?

    September 14th, 2009

One of the main issues when parents separate and get divorced is who gets custody of the children. The future of your children’s welfare can hinge on the end result of your custody battle, making it one of the biggest fights you may ever face in your life. It is in the best interests of every parent to learn as much as possible before and during the child custody process.

Child custody and guardianship are legal terms which are often used to describe the legal and practical relationship between a parent and his or her child, such as the right of the parent to make decisions for the child, and the parent’s duty to care for the child.

Despite what you may read, you will not necessarily win your custody battle by simply having the best interests of you child at heart. You must present a well documented case that shows you to be the best possible parent to have custody. While “best interests of the child” benchmark is simple to understand there are also many more complicated and seemingly trivial details that can play a role in legal child custody cases.

Going through a child custody battle can be emotionally exhausting. The decision the judge makes can be influenced by how well the parents are able to be agreeable with each other for the the sake of the children.

If one parent is given sole custody of the child, the court will give the non custodial parent the right to visit and maintain contact with the children unless there are extenuating circumstances involved. Read how the states decide the child visitation laws.

Finding a suitable attorney to protect your visitation rights and to ensure that you get treated fairly by the courts is very important. As in other types of family law, child custody laws come under the jurisdiction of each individual state.

In cases where parents can’t reach a solution, the courtmight ask them to go to mediation to try and find a solution. A mediator can also help parents with child custody schedules.

Issues regarding child custody are most usual during divorce, annulment or legal separation proceedings. Regardless of your relationship with the child, whether you are a parent or step parent or grandparent, the judge will always try and determine what the best interests of the child are before awarding custody. It can be very difficult for children if the parents start undermining the other parent in front of them, and if the judge feels that one parent is trying to alienate the other parent from their children, they will NOT award custody to the parent using such tactics.

Sometimes people have a temporary child custody order given to one parent. This order is only temporary unless there is some extraordinary reason to make it permanent. Usually a temporary child order is only in effect for 72 hours and then it expires if no further action has taken place.

It is important to realize that by educating yourself about the different issues and tactics that are used in the family courts you will be in the best position to win custody of your children.

You must have proven strategies that will help you how to win custody of your child.
