We continue with the basics, those garments that should not be missing in any closet.
In the previous post we were able to learn more about these garments, when and how to wear them, how to identify them and some that are truly essential. In this post we will complete the list of essential basics until we reach 10. The 10 that you should get as soon as possible (if you don’t already have them…).
SUIT. A suit in black or blue is always a must have. You never know when you’re going to need it. Whether it’s weddings, job interviews or a formal event, a dark suit is one of those pieces of clothing that never goes out of style. Plus, you can combine it with your white shirt!
TRENCH COAT OR TRENCH. For winter, rain or mid-season, the trench can be worn with a shirt, t-shirt, sweater, jeans, chinos, sneakers, shoes. It is one of the wildest pieces of outerwear that provides a touch of good taste for those who wear it. Choose a black or blue tone and you will have a garment for many years.
JACKET OF SKIN. A timeless classic. The color or style doesn’t matter. A leather jacket never goes out of style. They are also perfect to wear at night, especially in black. And if you are one of those who usually ride a motorcycle, you need one now!
DARK JEANS. Jeans are already a wild card item. Also, if we choose them in dark color we have a garment that we can combine with almost all clothing and footwear. Perfect for going to work, going out to dinner or having a few beers with friends. It all depends on what garment or footwear you combine it with…
BEIGE CHINES. I tone the beige because the color is important. Chinos are a very versatile garment but especially so in this color. Perfect with a shirt or t-shirt, with sneakers, boots or shoes. Beige goes with practically everything, although it looks especially good with white or navy blue.
WHITE SNEAKERS. White sneakers are beginning to be considered the new shoes. On the other hand, they are still sneakers, so we have two shoes in one. Perfect with chinos or jeans, their sporty spirit manages to take the edge off a too formal look.
BROWN BRAIDED BELT. Last but not least is the brown braided belt. This type of belt is a personal discovery and recommendation that has gotten me out of a lot of trouble. I confess that when I travel, most of the time I only carry this belt. It looks perfect with jeans and chinos, and is at the same time casually elegant. An all-terrain vehicle!
